The TVA Retirement System will accept nominations through Monday, July 8, for a three-year term as an elected member of the TVARS board of directors. The term runs from Nov. 1, 2024, through Oct. 31, 2027. Any employee who is a TVARS member is eligible to run for election.
The TVARS board of directors consists of seven members: three appointed by TVA, three elected by employees who are TVARS members, and one who is selected by the other six and must be a TVA retiree. The TVARS board is responsible for the administration of the System and the 401(k) Plan.
The board holds quarterly meetings and other special-called meetings, as necessary throughout the year, to conduct business. Each director serves on various board committees. For more information on the duties and responsibilities of directors of the TVARS board, please see the TVARS Governance Policy.
To run for election, a candidate must have 25 nominations, which are made by employees who are TVARS members. TVARS will accept a written petition from a candidate, available here or by calling 865-632-6357. Since many employees work remotely, TVARS will also accept nominations by e-mail from an employee’s TVA e-mail account to TVARSBoardNomination@tva.gov with the subject line “TVARS Board Nomination – [insert candidate’s name].” No text is required in the e-mail.
In adherence with TVA e-mail usage policy, potential candidates who wish to request nomination support from fellow employees may send a one-time internal email not to exceed 50 persons. Any subsequent e-mails for nomination support should be below the 20-person threshold.
In addition to 25 nominations, candidates must also submit a Candidate Information Form, available here or by calling 865-632-6357. Candidates should submit their form by e-mail to adshepherd@tva.gov, by fax (865-632-8591), or by mail (TVA Retirement System, 400 W. Summit Hill Drive, WT 8A, Knoxville, TN 37902).
Deadline: The Candidate Information Form and all required nominations must be received by the TVA Retirement System by 4:45 p.m. EDT on July 8.
