Nominations Being Accepted for 7th Director Position on TVARS Board

The TVA Retirement System Board is accepting nominations and applications through July 10 for its seventh director position.

The seventh director is selected by the other six TVARS directors, three of whom are appointed by TVA and three of whom are elected by TVA employees.  All directors serve three-year, staggered terms with the 7th director’s term beginning November 1, 2015 and ending October 31, 2018.

Nominees or applicants for the seventh director position may be from any background, including retirees, employees or person outside the Retirement System.

Serving on the TVARS Board requires a substantial amount of time. The board meets quarterly and also has special called meetings throughout the year.  Each director serves on committees, which require a considerable amount of study, telephone time and meeting preparation time. The 7th Director receives a quarterly stipend plus travel expenses.

Candidates are encouraged to review the Director Election/Selection Policy prior to applying or nominating a candidate.  Attachment B of the Director Election/Selection Policy outlines the desirable characteristics for TVARS Directors.

How to Apply or Nominate

1. Mail a letter with information on the applicant’s or nominee’s experience and qualifications to Tony Troyani, TVARS Board of Directors, c/o Retirement Management, 400 West Summit Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37902.

2. E-mail the information on the applicant’s or nominee’s experience and qualifications to the TVA Retirement System mailbox at retsvcs@tva.gov.
